One of the best tips to help us 40 somethings remain uplifted in day to day life is to listen to positive mindset podcasts. Before I discovered podcasts, I listened to the radio during my daily commute to work. After 45 minutes exposed to complaining callers and horrible news it is fair to say I didn’t arrive in the best state of mind. Everything changed when I discovered podcasts. Now I look forward to long stretches in the car where I can listen to my podcasts.
I no longer watch or listen to the news. If there is a major world event my social media will be flooded with it but I don’t feel I need to expose myself on a daily basis. I find it easier to see the beauty of the world now I am exposing myself to joy and inspiration rather than negativity and ugliness.

The morning commute made better with inspirational podcasts
There are podcasts for every interest and every mood. Whether you want to learn something, have a laugh or be inspired there will be a podcast to suit. This list of five podcasts are my go to for when I want to learn something or feel inspired.
1) The Sheri and Nancy Show
“Sheri Salata and Nancy Hala are life-long sister friends of 29 years, Chief Visionaries of The Pillar Life, and co-hosts of their popular podcast, The Sheri + Nancy Show. Between them, they’ve had one of the most high-powered careers in television (Sheri); married, divorced and raised two children while working with Fortune 500 companies (Nancy). Each took a different path that led to the same life-changing moment — a chardonnay-inspired dreamstorming session where they decided to join forces to elevate their lives and consciously create more happiness, success and abundance” Stitcher
Sheri and Nancy are mid-life women transforming the second half of their lives. Both of them have been highly successful in some aspects of the first half of life while neglecting other aspects. I find their mission to live the second half focussing on creating happiness and success in every aspect of their lives both interesting and inspiring. This is a great podcast for mid-life women wanting to create their own meaningful lives from the inside out.
2) Super Soul Conversations with Oprah
“Awaken, discover and connect to the deeper meaning of the world around you with SuperSoul. Hear Oprah’s personal selection of her interviews with thought-leaders, best-selling authors, spiritual luminaries, as well as health and wellness experts. All designed to light you up, guide you through life’s big questions and help bring you one step closer to your best self.” Stitcker
The Oprah Winfrey show was my original daily dose of inspiration. I watched the show religiously and was exposed to new ways of thinking and being long before blogging or podcasts made this information so available. Super Soul Conversations continues on from the Oprah show with interesting interviews with inspirational thought leaders from around the world.
3) Earn Your Happy Podcast
“Get all the inside secrets and tools you need to help you bust through your fears, connect to your soul and get focused and clear so you can elevate your life, business and relationships. Each episode is designed to give you the tools, ideas, and inspiration to take action in your life. Tune in for an inspirational guest, a story or a “quickie” of motivation to get you out of a funk or blast you even further on your rockstar journey! Stop waiting until you are happy and go out and earn it!” Stitcher
Lori Harder has written a book called “A Tribe Called Bliss – Breakthrough superficial friendships, create real connections and reach your highest potential”. My word for 2019 is connection so Lori’s approach to life, love and friendships is very much aligned with what is important to me. She has fascinating guests and her enthusiasm for the joys of life is infectious.
4) The Goal Digger Podcast
“How do I build my dream job? How do I make money online? Am I ready to leave my 9 to 5? How can I create passive income? How can I grow my Instagram following? And the biggest question of all, can I *really* turn my passion into profits? Host Jenna Kutcher brings you productivity tips, social media strategies, business hacks, and inspirational stories that can help YOU design your dream career.” Stitcher
Many 40 something women have dreams of starting their own heart centred businesses. Jenna Kutcher’s podcast is full of practical but also inspiring information about how to use social media in an authentic way to help us do just that. Having grown up a little before the social media revolution I love listening to her enthusiastic shows to give me confidence that I too can create a thriving business that includes social media.
5) Awaken Radio with Connie Chapman
“Connie Chapman is a life coach, speaker and writer who teaches practical, yet soulful ways to clear out struggle, fear and limitation and live with more fulfilment, freedom and flow. On Awaken Radio Connie brings you heart-opening conversations and inspiring interviews with thought leaders and experts from all over the world. You will hear raw, honest and vulnerable conversations which share the transformative journeys that both Connie and her guests have walked. Each episode is filled with inspiring guidance to help you clear out your fears, transform your mind, crack open your heart and rise into your highest potential.” Stitcher
The Awaken Radio Podcast holds a special place in my heart as the original podcast that guided me to the path I now travel in my 40s. The episode was number 71 “How to Manifest Your Desires By Following Your Intuition.” I still follow Connie’s advice from that episode. The podcast is a combination of interviews with fascinating spiritual leaders (mainly Australian) and Connie’s thoughts on topics close to her heart.
Listening to podcasts has become an important part of my spiritual practice. There are many more wonderful podcasts but these five are a great place to start. Do you have any go to podcasts for spiritual or mindset inspiration?
